I have awesome, awesome news!
I weighed myself this morning - *drumroll*
105.6kgs!!!
Huge surprise because I haven't been feeling overly slinky or slim this week. I can see my 100kg goal and it looks so good!
This time last week I drove to Melbourne and had my first ever lapband fill. It involved the doctor injecting saline into my port to make my lap band constrict a little more so I can eat a little less.
So judging by that kick ass needle in the picture above did I shit my duds? Nope. It didn't hurt one bit! I swear to jebus.
The doctor inserted the needle, drew out the saline that was already in (4mls) and then injected that and an extra 1ml. So I now have 5 mls.
Do I feel restricted? No, I still seem to be hungry but I'm able to question whether it's tiredness, thirstyness or simply tiredness that maks me feel like that.
I have had a couple of little 'sick's too. Weird and they hurt. Alot. What is a 'sick'... well if you get over game and decide to eat something (like bread, pasta) that hasn't got a consistency to slide down the hole in your band, then it gets stuck and absolutely kills. Twice now I have been doubled over with a pain that feels like someone just ran and punched me as hard as they could right in my breast plate. Until you are sick or it goes down by itself (dangerous because it can hurt the position of the band and stretch the stomach) then it will continue to hurt.
Someone asked me what I'm eating nowadays. Well since my fill and getting the tiniest peice of pasta stuck, I've been a little scared to try anything adventurous so I've been having gourmet soups. Heart warming soup. I'll eat about 250- 400mls of soup a day, lots of water and I have been indulging a sweet tooth I've had over the past few days and having little chocolates. I only ever feel like choc around that time of the month and a mouthful generally satisfies that craving so I'm not overly worried.
I did some calculations a few days ago and worked out that I'd be lucky to have 300-400 calories per day and I don't miss food at all really. I take a multi vitamin each morning for all the essential bits and bobs but other than that, my body is feeding from it's fat stores just nicely thank you.
I need to say again... already this is clearly the tool I needed. To hit that 'Satisfaction' button off in my head. I LOVE my band.

Yippee! That is soooo cool! Love your work!
Oh bugga.. I stuffed up my last effort.. Try again..
I have known a couple of people that went through that whole "sick" thing... ouch..
Just wondering how do you manage to have a few drinks???
You say that you are loving your band.. I say that band is loving you right back!!!
Hey where do you live? I wonder if we're nearby? I'm in Vic.
Anyway I was going to say I'm SO jealous of how you're feeling. I wish I could be so full etc. I know what you mean about not knowing why you're hungry. I struggle with mental hunger I think.
I love the way you write. I'll be seeing you around the blog world (and maybe FB as I applied for your group).
Wow! Go you Beck! Each time I read your blog I am fascinated by the procedure you underwent and so impressed by the great results you're achieving. Also find it motivational to do something about myself! Thanks for sharing. And you're lookin' gorgeous hun xx
Beckie,
As I have gained 40lbs more this last year I have to say you are inspiring!!! Keep going.
I am so happy for you!!! What a new lease on life you will be getting... seriously great news.
Hey Beck glad your loving your band. I thought I would give you little bit info i discovered(from 2.5 years banding) and have read through from the trudy williams books. Foods which are likley to cause pain, regurgitation or discomfort?
White and fresh breads
whole cuts of red meat
squid
aldente pasta
skin on fruit
orange and grapefruit
hot chips
nuts
dry cuts of chicken ie breast
Rice
skin on potato
Raw carrot
Corn
Mango
Reheated food.
You may have problems with all or known of these but aleast for first 2 months try to stay clear of them so your band has time to develop adhesions to the stomach, and thus you dont risk slipping it through a blockage. I ran a suport group where i Live and every single person bar one cant eat pasta, rice, fresh bread, because they ball together as you swallow.I am on mainteance with"loose" band and still cant really eat bread, pasta or rice, only if its massively overcooked.
Anyway your doing great
Diana
The idea of those 'sicks' is a little scary to me. I am glad you have only had a couple of them.
I was wondering whether you would be willing to share how the surgery has affected your bloodwork in regards to your health. You had mentioned this was one of the major deciding factors in having such a radical surgery and I am hoping it has been able to lessen the amounts of medications you take. Also, of course, the strains these medications, and your health issues, must have been having on your body.
