Going Off Air

I think I'm going to kick technology to the kerb for a few weeks and get myself better.

I'm sick with a blasted flu at the moment and as I said to Mr Bandit, I need to simplify everything right now. No technology. Limited TV and more connection to each other and ourselves in general. In the past two days I have started saying "No" to people. Man, hasn't that had some repercussions. *shakes head*

I know that I have to write about this though or else I'll forget and not have an accurate record to look back on.

I've had a pretty trying day today and as a result I have no liquid in my band. I made an emergency appointment with my clinic and my husband had to drive me to Melbourne. I spent all night awake with shocking acid rising in my mouth and I'm so lucky I got in to see them.

The doctor I got to see ordered an immediate barium swallow xray because I haven't been able to get water down.  Barium, yum. :-|

When in the xray room I could see the screen and what was happening. The first mouthful of this chalky heavy metal liquid went down and got stuck. Then the weirdest thing, it's like it pushed through a little barrier and finally went down my throat. The two consectuive mouthfuls went down a teeny tiny gap in my band. Afterwards the sonographer gave me a cup of water and it came straight back up. Maybe the heaviness of the barium helped it go down?

We walked straight back to the clinic and the doctor looked at the xrays.

Through recent swelling, it's caused vomiting which has in turn caused my stomach to come up through the band and cause a pouch above the band.

I cried, Mr Bandit held my hand and asked the doctor "Does this mean she has to have the op again?"  "Oh no, no, no".

PHEW!  She then took out all of the liquid in my band. All of it. Instant pressure release.

The plan is, the pouch should worked it's way back under the band where it should be and in 4 weeks when I meet with the professor I'll have another barium swallow and if all is well then I will get about 4mls put back in and return two weeks later to have the rest put back in.

Fingers crossed eh?

So for now, the plan is to turn off from the world.
- plug back into my family - my mental barriers (not commitments) have kept me away from them.
- plug back into my own health and get over this 100kg hurdle. It's been a barrier for 15 years.
- plug back into an active life. My body craves movement. I know it.
- simplify everything and say no to people.

So, I wish you all a great couple of weeks ahead. I apologise if I miss any major news on FB or blogs (not that I get to read any). Perhaps pick up the phone if you need me.

:-)

I'm sorry you've had such a trying day :( Really sounds like you need to take a 'moment' and just concentrate on yourself for a while. Take a breath away from everything :) *hugs*

Oh boy can I relate. Again. :) You know, it really sucks that we live thousands of miles apart. Cause I think IRL you and I would make really good friends. I mean, shit, we've been online friends for like 4 years now so we're practically going steady!

Please take some time and get your act together and be good to yourself. But please don't stay away too long, I'll miss the hell out of you! Especially since I'm not on Facebook anymore. heh. I've been through lots of crazy shit myself so if you need to send an email and chat privately, you're welcome to do so. Oooh, I'm even available for any wee hour crises cause it'll be afternoon here! My skype name is redtoycar12. If you ever need to talk and decompress and just have a friend, please feel free to skype me.

If you're feeling like posting but don't know what to say, can I make a suggestion? I'm dying to hear how your blood sugar has been and your labs and thyroid and all of those other medical details. I can't wait to hear how things are coming along.

Take care.

Take care, thinking of you and I'm really glad you're making this choice. I've had this chat to my family recently and my dd (16) has been away from facebook for 5 days, and she is feeling really proud of herself focusing on other things. I think I am a bit old fashioned but I'm becoming more proud of being that way and going back to the simple things in life that make us happy. Cheers and gets lots of cuddles and lovin from your boys.

Look forward to your return. V.

Hey you! Well it's nearly 4 weeks since you had your fill removed, so I'm hoping it did what it was supposed to do and all is OK in that part of your world again.

Take care of you. xx
