So many of you know I work occassionally at a Chocolate Shop.
I get so many people who walk in and say "Oh my goodness, how do you work in here? I'd want to eat everything."
My answer is generally a flippant "It's fine because I'm not a sweet tooth. However I couldn't work in a bakery or a salt and vinegar chip factory".
Today was weird. I brought my OptiFast shaker, 4 litres of water (yes, I normally drink that per day), an apple and..... SHIT! Forgot my OptiFast!!!!!
Next door to the chocolate shop is where I normally have lunch. An awesome, funky cafe called El Beso
This is my gorgeous friend Meg playing pickup sticks @ El Beso with CKK & I. The place is awesome. I digress...
Here lies my problem. All day today the familiar, home cooked smells of el Beso wafted through the shop. However, if I closed the door, all I could smell was the 100+ kg order of chooclates that arrived yesterday.
For a detoxing diva like me, it was kind of getting to me. Especially since I forgot my 'meal' for the day.
Enter Mr Bandit. He jumped in our supercar and drove one sachet of OptiFast down to me. Probably not so much of a feat as we only live a couple of blocks from the shop, but still. It saved my hunger like you wouldn't believe.
It was at this stage that I knew I needed some distraction and messaged Meg (in picture above) and asked if she'd like to pop in for a cuppa tea. We talked & talked and I bagged a few kilos of chocolates and didn't once pop one into my mouth. Thanks Meg!
So I have to do it all again tomorrow. This time I won't forget my shake and would appreciate anyone dropping into the shop for a coffee, tea or chat.
How am I feeling? Well thanks for asking, I am a little hungry of a night time and last night took myself off to bed at 8.30. Best. Sleep. Ever.
I can also tell you that the scales are down a few kilos already. Thank goodness!
Thank you to everyone who has left a comment in recent days. I read every single one of them and love everything you have to say.
:)

If I worked in a chocolate shop, i'd be in trouble!
you GO GIRL. keep up the 'resisting temptation'. were following you aLL THE WAY through an emotional journey that you are taking us all along for we are lucky people to be invited to join and support you. over the following weeks and months many of us will laugh and cry with you and you will never be far from any of our thoughts keep up the video blogs it really touches home.... love you so much xoxo
It is awesome to hear you sound so positive and good about it all. You have a Magic Man Hero who saved the day. Well Done Mr Bandit.
I have to confess something here. I worked out 2 weeks ago that I was addicted to chocolate. Yes, I never thought it possible either, but hark, the headaches I were getting from withdrawals weren't pretty, one step off being a migraine. Everytime I walked into a shopping centre I would buy a bar and am capable of eating a whole cadbury block or packet of Timtams to myself in one sitting. I went cold turkey and it took 3-4 days for the headaches to disappear.....now Easter is around the corner with all that deliciouness displayed tantalisingly, wanting to be savoured and devoured....Oh no - off topic.
I guess what I'm saying is that I know the challenge that food can become. For me it's chocolate for others it might be crisps. So while you're going through this Gorgeous Petal, I'm going through it too. This is what I meant when saying in other comments that you are an inspiration to me because you're empowering me to also face my own dietary demons. Love you Chicky and all your beautiful honesty so that people like me can feel a little stronger too. You are more AWESOME than I can ever tell you with mere words. xoxoxoxoxo
I'm one of those that have asked how can you resist the temptation while working in the choccy shop...although I probably couldn't work in a bakery either.
You are such an inspiration, hun! xx
Isn't that quick weight loss on the Optifast shakes. I was ready to move my computer into the bathroom as I pee'd almost every hour for the first week. I too found I sleep like a baby now that I'm not full of sugar. Just think of all that sugar no longer attacking your body and your liver giving up its fat. You'll still have a few rough days, but the end really does justify their means. Still waiting for an answer to see if my surgery will be this week but I'm sticking to the pre-op diet even if it does get delayed a bit.
PS-My drug of choice was chocolate, pounds of it at a time-can I have your job! My best friend's downfall are salt and vinegar chips!
Hey there
Not sure the actual specifics of your pre-op diet, but I felt with mine if I was a little peckish in the evening then a tomato cut up in a little bowl with salt and pepper sprinkled over it seemed somehow to fill the void.
You are doing fabulously my dear and if I lived in Aussie and closer I would definitely pop in for a chat t distract you.
Hi, you are amazing, you will get there!! and Mr bandit will be ll the way with you too!!
love and hugs Margaret
ps I always forget my blog address,,,,its named " I thought I was wrong once...
hahahaha
xx
Hey chicken! Just a quick "Good Luck" - I know that it won't be easy, but I know that u r stronger than u think u r. It will so be worth it in the end.
Hugs (and the coffee and strawberry ones r way nicer!)
How darn cute is meg?! :)
I thought you myself, why didn't she just ring home, Mr Wonderful would have bought one down! lol... and so he did :) You are so very fortunate to have such a supportive partner by your side, it can make or break the situation... As for working at the chocolate shop, well that's just like going to Tiger Woods for marriage counceling - it's wrong, and playing with fire - for me it would be anyway ;) xxx
Good one Mr Bandit!!!
I am so glad that I'm not that into chocolate, however if it was a hot chip shop (not now as I can't eat them anyway).
The only opti shakes I could stomach was the strawberry and coffee ones. The vanilla and chocolate made me gag!
Oh, and just be prepared for bad breath! I remember waking up one morning and thinking to myself, "What is that God awful smell!!!!" Realised it was me... breathing!
You'll be on the flip side before you know it.
Bel
Good Job Mr Bandit! I'd be shocking in the samboy factory full stop!
Good luck with today - hope you get some visitors/customers to take your mind off it!
If I lived anywhere near there, I would definitely drop in for a chat.
