So ever since I got banded I have been using my you-beaut Biggest Loser Scales. They measure body fat-water and whether I watched Today Tongiht the day before. I loved them and hated them.
On occassion, (read: everytime I went to get a band fill) I would look at their scales quizzically and say "That can't be right. I know I've lost 3kilos. My scales say so.
On my last visit, the awesome nurse said "I think you may need some new scales".
So I bought some the next day and voila, they were the same weight as what the doctors surgery weighed me at.
I was crushed. The number (yes, it's just a number etc but there's no story without the number) was 110.8kg.
Crushed.
I also saw a sheet with my details & saw that I hadn't lost a bit of weight for 12 weeks. Nothing. Not a sausage. According to their charting.
How did I not see this before? Sure, life has been busy, sure I've had some hormonal issues but 12 weeks? Not a gram? That and not being filled correctly to be in the green zone (not hungry or looking for food and not too tight) finally started my weight moving again.
My last fill was on the 13th August and my weight this morning was .....
FINALLY! only a smidge from being under 100. For the first time in MANY years. 10yrs? 15yrs? 20yrs?
Speaking of 20yrs. I have my 20 yr school reunion in a week and a half. Excited much? What will I wear?
So the moral to the story is - new scales have helped immensely!

*Squeals with excitement* YAY I'm so happy for you
ROCKSTAR!! xx
After 3 months of not losing it's exciting the scales are moving again, AND you're almost in double digits!! It goes to show how important the follow up is hey?! (not saying you didnt follow up, but you get my point) The band is just the beginning.
Boo for your old scales!
Perfect timing for your 20 year reunion! You will look fabulous, as always but Im sure you'll feel it this time too :)
Whoop whoop! Well done Beck, you're totally kicking butt and going to blast down to double digits any day now :D
I'm off to buy some new scales too ;)
Well Done CB, I know you've worked hard for this outstanding result. All the best for your future endeavours and at the Reunion. :)
YAY!!!! thats brilliant!
It takes time and time is the hardest thing to wait for - but how worthwhile was the wait... Yay for you xx
DId you seriously blur out your toes ROFL?????
Yay!!!!!!
LOL @ blurring your toes. That's hilarious.
And you are amazing xoxox
Hey, very excited for you....I had a lapband on the 3rd Sept, and feeling a bit disheartened and impatient I guess...I lost 12kg on the optifast diet before the band but haven't lost a thing since....so I'm hoping I haven't been ripped off....though the pain I went through especially the first week post op tells me they've definitely done something in my tummy!! Hoping when I go back for an adjustment that things will start moving again...thanks for being brave and doing this blog...it has inspired me to want to do something for me...and I can't wait to buy normal clothes instead of buying "big girls clothes", and to feel like a worthy being...this part of my mindset has started to change thankgod....anyway keep up the good work candid bandit....your truly amazing, and a gorgeous girl!
Boo for old, non-reliable scales. Like clothes should all be the same size across brands (16-16 etc) so scales should automatically calibrate the same across the world... Bah..
But Whooooooooo to being so close to those double digits. You are just sensational!
Blackbandchick after the surgery we hold so much fluid it takes a little while for it to settle. I know a lot of us took a while to drop weight straight after surgery. :)
Way to go... That is awesome.. I bought a new scale and find it is now the same as the dr.s office. I love that..
damn those dodgy scales leading you astray! You're back on track now & kicking buttski!!! Awesome work :0)
