Meet My Surgeon

I have butterflies in my stomach.

Tomorrow I meet Professor Paul O'Brien. My surgeon.

I chose Professor O'Brien this time last year when I originally booked in to have lapbanding done but was told by one of the women on reception  that he was extremely hard to get an appointment with. At that stage he was in America teaching a group of surgeons to Lap Band.

I had Professor O'Brien recommended to me by a woman close to Scott's family, who'd had him as her surgeon and another blogger so I was really hoping he would be it.

Sine then, I've seen the other surgeons that work for him and in particular Dr Smith who spoke at my information session who was beautiful, sincere and I felt he had a bucketload of integrity. I came to the conclusion that all the surgeons (at Centre For Bariatric Surgery - The Avenue) were pretty incredible and at the top of their fields.

So I'd like you to meet my surgeon.

Here is his blurb on the Lapband Australia website.

Paul O'Brien
Professor Paul O’Brien Is a world leader in the LAP BAND procedure. He was one of its originators, having been involved in its design since 1991 and placing the first LAP BAND in Australia in 1994.

He is the Head of the Centre for Bariatric Surgery. He is also the Director of the Centre for Obesity Research and Education (CORE), a major research centre within Monash University in Melbourne and he is the National Medical Director at the American Institute for Gastric Banding (AIGB), in Dallas, Texas.

Through CBS and CORE, he and his associates have published more research studies and provided more post-graduating teaching on the LAP BAND than any other group in the world.

If I had any doubts for you before (not that I did), they are all gone because I know that you will be in the best of hands. The surgeons and their staff are at the top of their field and all you have to do is wreak the rewards. You are one of the bravest people I know and to me you have never been anything but one of the beautiful people that I know. I'm getting very excited for you and can't wait. xoxoxo

I know now that you will be in the best of hands as your surgeon is at the top of his field and his staff also. I'm so excited for you. I have to say though, that I have never really seen you as anything other than one of the beautiful people that I know and am lucky enough to have in my life. xoxoxo
